Comments: I would like to let Yvette and Cynthia know that they helped to make a very uncomfortable situation for me not only more bearable, but enjoyable. It was a fun learning experience and I also took home with me the fact that it’s OK to give others in the same predicament the same respect we all deserve. My perception of the nurses listed in the newsletter has improved profoundly, and we may just be the better nurses after our experience with PHES.
I would recommend PHES to anyone who wants to brush up on skills either mandated by the TBON, young nurses desiring more guidance, or older nurses needing to brush up on older practices and learn the more current principles that drive us to be excellent at the bedside.
Thank you for your hard work organizing and teaching while maintaining the dignity of the participants.

Comments: I HAVE BEEN OUT OF NURSING FOR ALMOST 7 YEARS AND I WAS REALLY HAPPY THAT I ENROLLED AT PHES. BEING A FOREIGN EDUCATED NURSE AND NOT WORKED HERE IN THE US,THEY HAVE HELPED ME REGAIN MY KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS THROUGH THEIR PROGRAM. FROM THE LECTURES TO THE CLINICALS, THEY HAVE ASSISTED ME TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITES. AND UNTIL NOW THAT I HAVE ALREADY FINISHED MY PROGRAM LAST OCT, THEY ARE STILL THERE TO GUIDE ME ESP ON THE PAPER WORKS. MR. GREG, MS. CYNTHIA, MS. EVELYN AND OF COURSE, MS.YVETTE- THEY ARE ALL VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EASY TO APPROACH NOT ONLY ABOUT THE PROGRAM BUT ALSO IN DEALING WITH OTHER ASPECTS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PHES FOR THOSE NURSES,LIKE ME, WHO REALLY NEED TO REFRESH THEIR BODY, MIND AND MAYBE SPIRIT. AND LASTLY, PHES HAS TAUGHT ME AGAIN HOW TO BECOME A NURSE AND BUILD UP MY SELF-CONFIDENCE. MORE POWER TO PHES!!! MISS Y'ALL!!!
Comments: I live in Ohio and wanted to practice nursing once again after 15 years. I was last licenced in Texas so I had to take my refresher course for RNs there. I enrolled with PHES and just completed the course last week. I am so grateful to the staff at PHES for their patience, professionalism, and kindness in helping me through the process of completing this great course! The night before my clinicals Yvette informed me that the Rehab center I was scheduled to attend couldn't give me the days I requested. She rescheduled me at another nearby hospital the same night that could accommodate my schedule request. I had a great clinical experience there!! What a blessing it was and worth every penny! Many thanks to Yvette and Cynthia. They are so great at what they do. I pray for their continued success in the future!! Oh, and the course content is fantasic!!!
Comments: As a foreign-educated (Canadian) RN out of practice for seven years, the PHES classroom refresher program in Houston provided everything I needed (and more!) to develop the confidence and competence to return to nursing practice. There is no need to feel intimidated or nervous about returning to the classroom as Yvette and Cynthia are incredibly warm, welcoming and accepting of all students, regardless of your personal situation, age or years out of practice. They also laugh a lot – which helps calms everyone’s anxiety!
I was surprised by the wealth of tips and advice Yvette and Cynthia provided, everything from local resources (CPR training, buying scrubs), to professional organizations nurses can join, to the realities of working in the current health care system. PHES offers students a number of additional resources at no cost, books, magazines and DVDs, extra assignments (if you choose), optional lunch-time seminars, and skills labs-anything and everything to help you get to where you need to be. The clinical aspect of the program is also very flexible; I chose several different clinical sites and tried a few different practice areas.
Just a few weeks after completing the refresher program, I received three job offers and secured a full-time day shift position in my preferred specialty! I am incredibly grateful to Yvette and Cynthia for their detailed course content, instruction methods and professional and supportive approach to helping nurses succeed. It is clear to me that PHES is motivated to help each student achieve their personal goals. If you are considering returning to nursing, I highly recommend this program!
Comments: After staying home to raise children and volunteer in community organizations for 19 years, I signed up for the PHES RN refresher course. I had NO confidence that it would be easy to return to the workforce after all those years. BUT, the staff and instructors gave me so much confidence and encouragement, and I thoroughly enjoyed being "back in school". I loved the clinical hours, too. After only a month, I landed a dream job at a great hospital close to my home. Thanks to the wonderful staff at PHES.

Comments: I put my RN license "on hold" to stay at home for 10 years with my children. I like others was nervous about returning to the work place having been away for so long but found it necessary when my husband was layed off. Although the state board did not require me to take any additional courses. It was obvious to me in nursing employers want recent experience. Before the course I had applyied with a company I was previously employed with and they said they more willing to employ me if I take refresher course. I was disappointed but understood. Yvette was amazing instructor and very up to date on all aspects of nursing. She gave me a great reference and I have been employed with an infusion company for 16 months. Thank you Yvette! Marjorie G.

Comments: I found myself sitting in your ethics/jurisprudence class. I was dreading it but my hat is off to you. That was the best money I have ever invested in myself. It was fun, informative and interesting. I learned alot of regulations, but most of all I learned that day. I learned on that day it was ok and I was correcting the mistake and I allowed myself that day to forgive myself for the mistake I had done. It took almost 3 years but I learned more in that class more than I have in all my almost 25 yrs as a nurse and to forgive yourself, a thousand pounds were lifted off my back and I want to thank you. I was afraid at first because I thought it was gonna be " a you bad people class, how could yall had done something so stupid, bad boys and bad girl kind of class " and it wasnt anything like that in fact it was the opposite. Ms Yvette treated us with the up most respect, didn't degrade or single out anyone or make any one feel stupid, or like I have felt about myself the last 3 years of my life (which is way worst than just stupid), so God Bless you Ms Yvette. I was so excited about the class that I was sad it was time to leave already cause I wanted to hear more, in fact I came home and called all my close nurse friends and told them what I had learned and they even heard a change in me. I recommend that every new nurse take this class before they go out to the REAL World, so they will never ever end up in that class to begin with, but if they do I wouldnt recommend anyone except you guys. And with Ms. Cynthia who worked so very hard with me sending in my forms and writing me and helping me along the way due to my recent car being stolen just a few weeks prior to having to take this class and my computer going out and all the medical problems I was going through the last few months. She was also God sent , and I am a firm believer that God puts people in your paths and lives for a reason. I just wanted to say I appreciate all you ladies did to and for me and how you have changed my life for the better and I dont feel like a terrible criminal horrible nurse anymore, I dont feel worst than what is on the bottom of one's shoe anymore , which was a label I put on myself and thank you for teaching me all I was taught that I could take that to heart and allow myself to let go of the baggage, never do it again and I will forever live by the motto if it doesnt feel right it most likely isnt right even though 100 other folks are doing it!
Comments: April 2013 MUCH THANKS to PHES!! I had been wanting to re-enter the clinical field after being in pharma sales and also with an equipment company for a total of 25 years. Since I needed to reactivate my license, I wanted a comprehensive program that would include a live classroom setting along with the clinicals. I looked at several programs, even in other cities, and found PHES to be exactly what I was looking for and needing. I was not disappointed.
I found both RN instructors, Yvette and Cynthia, to be as helpful as they were well-informed on what's happening in nursing today. Both these ladies are very responsive to each student's needs, questions, and concerns. Both are very patient and supportive and clearly demonstrate their interest in helping the students individually. I was pleased to quickly find out how personable and receptive they are in person or via phone and email. The instructors are very responsive and make themselves readily available. Their teaching is clear and they encourage questions and discussions of realistic scenarios. I always felt comfortable in the class - and enjoyed them - even though I was definitely the oldest and had been out of clinical nursing the longest.
I look forward to going forth confidently and successfully with my mind and focus back in the game!
Comments: I have been out of nursing for about 7 years, having never actually practiced nursing except for my student clinical experience years ago. I decided to go back into the field of nursing and after searching on the web, I found PHES. I just have to say, I had a great experience using this refresher program. The whole team were great! Yvette is a great instructor through this program, my fears were laid aside. I know that I now have the ability to walk with confidence into the field of nursing. PHES is a great place...well worth it!
