[Posted on April 16]

PHES has become the nursing school Houston nurses turn to for continued education and preparation for their careers. If you have been on an extended leave of absence to care for family members or any other reason, we will ensure that you have the retraining you need to confidently re-enter the clinical workforce. We offer convenient locations for your nurse refresher courses including Windsong Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Pearland and Grace Care Nursing Home in Katy. PHES begin in 2001 by offering Board of Nursing approved Nurse Remediation and has expanded to providing refresher courses for those who need to re-enter the workforce after extended absences from their fields.

As a qualified Houston nursing school, we provide the specific courses that you need to help you to confidently re-enter your career field. Our current class size is limited to 20 nurses in order to provide all of our participants with the personalized attention needed to quickly hone their skills. During the first few weeks of your refresher course you will review anatomy as well as pathophysiology critical thinking, terminology and other nursing skills. You will then be provided with courses including review of Physical Assessment, Medication Administration and Error Prevention, Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics, Pharmacology and Documentation.

Through our nurse refresher course options, we provide all of the information and coursework that you need to become acquainted with any new technologies or procedures introduced during your absence. We help you to renew your skills and your confidence through DVDs at home followed by classwork through lectures and Skills Labs. Our Simulation Labs are designed to simulate specific patient signs and symptoms that are consistent with specific diseases or disorders. You will "treat” your patients and learn from experience how to properly administer treatment, medications and diagnosis.

When your classwork, lab work and simulation are completed you will be ready to move into a clinical setting where you can provide patient care with confidence. Nurses who successfully complete our program requirements will receive certificates of completion as well as 20 hours of continued education. We are here to help you to confidently return to the career that you love.
