Nurse Refresher courses are identical to the remediation courses
with two additional topics and indicated for one or more of
the following reasons:
- Inactive license
- Need to update clinical skills (CEU)
- Transferring from another state or country
- Been out of the clinical setting for 4 or
more years

a three-hospital system in San Antonio, TX, has launched the
Internationally Educated Nurse Retraining Program to assist
registered nurses trained in other countries in gaining their
RN license in Texas. Working initially with RNs trained in
Mexico, the system is providing English classes, a refresher
course in nursing, and a job shadowing program to acquaint
participants with the operations of a U.S. hospital. Advertising
in the San Antonio area attracted a pool of interested RNs
from Mexico, and the first class of 10 will begin their training
in March and will be prepared for their first RN job by summer
